The key to our firm's longevity and growth lies in our philosophy and approach to practice. We regard the practice of law as a profession devoted to helping people deal with complicated business matters and sensitive personal legal concerns.

It is our belief that lawyers can serve their clients best by advising and planning. Although there will always be a need for litigation to resolve disputes that cannot be negotiated, we emphasize preventative law. This approach not only helps our clients avoid unnecessary disputes and minimizes liabilities, it increases the benefits the law makes available to them. In turn, preventative law provides a greater flow of information between lawyer and client, early involvement of the lawyer in a matter and a relationship of trust and confidentiality.

A team approach is applied to each case handled by our firm. We call on the appropriate attorneys and staff members who can best solve the client's problem in an effective way. Our founding partners remain active in the firm and apply their experience and advice to most of the matters we handle.

It is our policy to discuss fees and arrangements for payment at the first interview, after a discussion of the legal problem.

As a rule, we calculate our fees on an hourly basis, according to our estimation of the time and services required to solve the problem. However, certain kinds of cases are taken on a flat rate fee or other basis. Personal injury cases are most usually handled on a contingent basis, whereby the fee comes from the recovery.

Whatever the circumstance, we will discuss the matter fully and clearly with the client so there is mutual understanding before proceeding.

The charge for an initial conference depends upon the nature of the consultation. In general, when substantial assistance or advice is given, an hourly rate applies. However, when the conference mainly involves an explanation of the problem and a discussion of the terms of the representation, there will be no fee, or a nominal one. In the case of personal injuries, there is no charge for the consultation. Upon telephone request, we will provide a statement of the initial conference charge.

In order to provide our clients with the best service, we arrange consultations promptly by appointment only. Appointments are generally scheduled in our office, which is conveniently located with respect to major highways and public transportation. Free parking is available. Our office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with evening appointments available.
